I'm not kidding when I say those zoom shows and instagram shows were my main source of joy in 2020. Thank you for doing so many of them despite the weirdness, and thanks for sharing this again!!
A coupla' IPA's and the Crane Wife will get me emotional. I love the story of how you found the book and the inspiration. Rhyming keening bell with fontanelle is just genius.
We road tripped in 2010 from NorCal to the MusicfestNW and met Jenny whilst drinking beer and chatted for about 45 minutes! That made my day because the show was meh. I trust everything is well with her now.
I totally agree that I also lived for your acoustic zoom shows and so appreciated you letting us into your world during those bizarre early-Covid times. It really brought so much joy...I was working remotely and always marked my work schedule as "busy" when I knew when you'd be live so that I could enjoy them uninterrupted!
I love it when you segue into one song right from another. My brain put the crowd cheering reaction in when it went into Crane Wife 3. That song is really special to me; it takes me back to a really intense time when my best friend's mom died and we cranked this CD up as loud as it would go. It really got us through that week.
Remember watching this in 2020. Listening to it again now got me listening to the whole Crane Wife album. Still one of my favorites. Just started a 5 day quarantine from work, so I might make it through some more albums...

Completely agree! Virtual concerts, while a bit weird, were also more than a bit wonderful.

I was a part of the ZoomaRomma Concerts. It was a much needed break in the long, cold corona. Thanks to all who were involved.
Lovely!!!
Can we get details on the zoom rig???
Always exciting to open the post and see an 8 minute audio file. Wicked good listen, thank you!
Thank you.

Loving the newsletter! Don't know if you saw this, but a new feature counting down the 30 Best Decemberists Covers Ever went up last month here (including several "Crane Wife" covers): https://www.covermesongs.com/2022/03/the-best-decemberists-covers-ever.html

Best thing that has happened today 👏
Really enjoyed this one, a great cover (and version of CW3).
2 of my favorites
Oh wow, this is fantastic 😍. Two epic songs, pushed past their individual greatness.
