Let's go with "machinists" — that feels right. Love the song!

I feel this song in my bones. How do you always talk directly to me?

Hard to believe this song was sitting on the shelf. I wonder hopefully what else might be sitting winder a veneer of creative dust.

Instead of machinists, I like spanners for both a mechanical connection and crossing over to different times.

I love this song. It speaks to my teenage angsty soul (which I’ve maintained into my 60s).

This does really feel like the the first year I lived in Portland as well. I love the superchill keyboard work in this song.

I'm sorry but that's a rather spectacular song to sit on! It really works down here in Woodburn watching the clouds duke it out with the sun to decide what kind of day it's going to be.

How about an Always the Machinist Series for things like this? :)

Should your posts and our comments be referred to as"machinations"?

Is there any way to remove the promotional material ("subscribe now") from the public posts that are sent to people who are already subscribers? it made me think I was not subscribed and I got very confused.

"Things are looking down." A very lovely song for that feeling.

Also: "Machinists" feels right to me, too.

Thanks so much for sharing! Definitely a quality downer of a track. Honestly it's such a joy as a fan to hear things that...might've been.

On the "old recordings" front, I hope the Machine Shop can eventually clear up a Tarkio question I've had for a long time - there are mentions of a tape called "Falleness" (or "Fallenness"?) online, but I haven't ever seen it show up anywhere, let alone a track listing. Is that the one that Following Camden Down (great song) and a couple others on Omnibus came from?

Is Nate playing bass in this recording? Seems like a grittier effect than he usually goes for. Sounds great!

My only regret is that I can't stick these on my "Everything Colin Meloy" playlist.
