Wishing so badly I could be there tonight! My own autistic kiddo has been having some rough days and it would just be too much stress on her to leave her with the inlaws this evening. She spent nearly all her spoons getting dressed this morning. Sigh. Next tour ♥️

Oh Colin, Colin - I was at that Toronto show and you seemed in fine form, I’m so sorry to hear you were struggling. Thanks for pushing through for us. My sister and my husband and I were all so glad to be there, had such a wonderful time, were so happy to finally be seeing you. We were supposed to be at the 2020 show and I had a whole baby in the meantime. Hearing Myla Goldberg live was such a highlight - those deep cuts are so fun and unexpected. Rest up and try not to get ‘roid rage; we’ll be back to see you again soon 💛💛💛💛

Colin,

My major association with Massey Hall is Neil Young's archival "Live From" which captures him in early amazing acoustic period. As a cardiologist I feel compelled to comment on the steroid usage. Short term steroids are generally safe but they can worsen diabetes and can substantially raise blood pressure. If you have a blood pressure cuff on the bus I recommend checking your BP a couple of times during the course of treatment.

If you have diabetes to begin with, monitor blood sugar more closely.

Another thanks from another Boston person who also attended his first show at that BDRC. But this time I took my son, the once little boy who told me from the back seat that a song of yours was his favorite song. But now that boy is taller than me, and he turned to me while Down By The Water and smiled widely. I got a little verklempt! You and the band have a new generation of fans, Colin.

I'm bringing my 12 year old tonight to experience the Decemberists live! They aren't taller than me.. yet.. but they do enjoy aggressively comparing heights.

Hank sounds a lot like my son, Finn. Every sketch, script, or story I write, every show I perform is followed by the constructive critiques of a 15 year old boy in an REM T Shirt. I have to admit, I love it. Not only when he is right, but when I think he is wrong and it ends up being an all night discussion.

I took him to the show at The Wiltern in LA. He had never been to an indoor/GA show before. You and I created a monster. Thanks!

The Boston show was fantastic, as a concert goer it was my first time at the venue, I wandered it a bunch before it started and landed by the soundboard. There really isn't a bad view in the spot.

The show itself was amazing, you all have a way of making the largest venues feel intimate. This show really brought me back to seeing you all at Toad's place in New Haven years ago

The encore was beautiful and heartbreaking. I sang along fully sobbing to 12/17/12 having just gone through a loss then sons and daughters really hit me for similar reasons.

Hearing sons and daughters also always reminds me of seeing you guys in 2008 (right after Obama's election)when you played it,left the stage and we all just kept singing until we got kicked out.

Amazing show and glad you're back on the road

Ah I hope the steroids get you effectively through the rest of tour and that you get better than adequate rest after! Keep those folds healthy!

My envy of those crowds getting to see As I Rise live is ENORMOUS I’ve never once managed to see it despite the number of shows I’ve been to. I love that you guys are playing it, it sustains my hope that I’ll see it one day!

The Boston show was amazing - catharsis was achieved! Appreciated the high energy set list. The woman who flipped you the bird was standing right next to me, as I’m sure you know it was meant as a joke when you said we were a nice audience...know that she was a loud talker and was annoying the heck out of me for 2 hrs until you got on stage and she and a friend also tried to push in front of a few of us and another woman said hell no and sent her back.

I’ve been worried about your voice and hope it’s ok. Lots of respect to the strain singers out on their voice, my throat was hoarse just singing along a Sunday night.

I’m about 45 minutes away from NYC and am looking forward to another great show today!

Man. These reads make my days of late. And changed my perspective. Last weekend, at a festival here in Belgium, whenever a band would take the stage, I was wondering if they had chalmon, was hoping if the right walk-on music was queued, and in Conor Oberst's case, I was pondering if maybe he had a rough night on the tourbus. Cuz that would explain a lot.

I took my whole family to the Central Park SummerStage show tonight and thought you did a great job given the voice issues you wrote about. The set highlighted some gems in your song catalogue. Thanks for both Leslie Ann Levine and Shiny! Lin Manuel Miranda joining you on Ben Franklin’s Song was a real treat. I know it wasn’t a rowdy NYC audience but you bring out the best in people. Good luck on the rest of the tour and I’ll see you next time you and the band are in NYC.

Lafayette concert-goer & shebanger here! Thanks for an irrefutably delightful experience that will stick with me for a good long while. (I, for one, absolutely loved the deep cuts!) This was my first time catching y’all live and my first solo show and I truly don’t think the experience could’ve been any more perfect.

In what has already cemented its legacy as the most coordinated maneuver my body has managed to pull off - I somehow caught your pick at the end of the show. Still on cloud nine about it. The perfect bookend to an incredible memory.

Can’t wait until the next time! Glad to hear your voice is on the mend, and wish you all the best for the rest of the tour.

I’m really happy to read that you enjoyed Beaks & Skiff as much as my husband and i did. We made a whole weekend of it and drove up to the Finger Lakes region from Southern CT. The venue was beautiful and their hard ciders and food were delicious. What a super cool place to experience my much missed favorite band. And YES! - We missed a torrential downpour by just minutes. Whoo hoo!

(I think it makes up for the miserable cold rain we sat through to seeing you in Prospect Park, Brooklyn in…??? 20-something… Not ‘18 - That was another downpour but they only affected the VIP pre show. I’ve seen you all too many times to count so I have a hard time matching years with the shows. You and Sondheim productions, it’s all gone to mush in my brain)

We ended an already magical weekend with trips up to Seneca Falls to pay homage to our woman’s rights fighting fire mothers and then all the way down to the other side of the lake to visit the Corning Glass Museum. If you at all have any interest in glass arts (or even if you don’t), it’s a very, very awesome museum. I’m looking forward to future visits.

Anyway, thank you for giving us an excuse to travel to a region we’ve never been to. And the concert was felt like a true celebration. Something so much of us sorely needed.
