Hi Colin.

This post isn't about today's tour diary.

Unfortunately, the book/vinyl at Powells is sold out, but as a Canadian, I was left out of the pre-order fun. I'm not too bitter..... Anyhow, I pre-order the signed book from Books Are Magic.

In one of the comments, you mentioned a re-pressing of the vinyl. May I make a suggestion. Can you offer them to the paid Machine Shop subscribers before anyone else? That would be a nice perk, especially if one can order the LP only, as most will have already bought the book.

Thanks,

Ryan

I truly hope this can happen, as I would love to listen the music whilst reading the book. Thanks Colin!

Were you tempted to turn that Jesus fish into a Chalmon?

Cocteau Twins and Philosopher’s Walk are indeed a great match!

I just want to say how enjoyable these tour diaries have been. It's neat to get a peak inside of tour life. Thank you!

Thanks for a great show in Chicago! Looking forward to hearing what you think of Lapvona, and if it’s anything like Shrek (per The New Statesman’s review).

I distinctly remember in the 2016 Show at Meijer Gardens - it wasn't "Once in My Life" that you debuted - it was "Sucker's Prayer," which made all the more unfortunate the lackluster singing-along from the crowd during said song this time around. I did my darnedest to make up for it in the second row. "12/17/12" hits a lot harder now that I'm a parent. I especially appreciated both that and "Make You Better" in the list on Wednesday. Thank you for 10 great live experiences so far!

It was both songs! I used to listen to some iPhone recordings of those songs from that show before IBYG dropped XD

It is a blessing and a curse of being a fan of The Decemberists that you have so many great songs to choose from for a limited set. And honestly I remain amazed that you all can remember most of the lines/parts most of the time.

Wow that mural by Carson is wonderful! That Grand Rapids decor less so, for me.

The Chicago show was unreal! One of the best performances I’ve seen from you guys.

It was funny when you respectfully shot down the security guard for people using their phones.

Will you guys be offering merch online? I wanted a hat but the person in front of me in line got the last one.

When you walk around listening to music on what format are you doing this? I am still a hold-over of the cd player but everyone I know is urging me to break into the current century.

Hard agree about water pressure maketh the shower -- I'm in a downtown Atlanta hotel and the water pressure is a solid 7. Maybe 6 if I weren't being generous. And my enjoyment of the shower is a combination of temperature and pressure. I'm like Robert Boyle of the bathroom.

Looking forward to the Atlanta show! I'm visiting from New Zealand and extended my stay (and drove down here from Nashville) for this. Squee! Any other Machine Shoppers going to the show too?
