I’m starting to work on a tour diary that I’ll post periodically on this tour, but for the time being I figured I’d get a public thread going & say hello to everyone who’s coming to shows. Feel free to slide in to the chat below & introduce yourself to fellow show-goers and perhaps throw out a judicious song request. ONWARD!

Yep! I'll be at the Ryman show in Nashville as well! Last time the band did "The Tain" and that was simply magical! Would love to hear lots from "The Hazards of Love". i'm also going to be at the ryman! coming in from memphis, this will be my first decemberists concert and i somehow managed to get third row center--but i'll be on my own, so i'm hoping to meet some friendly faces!!
Balcony Row F.... couldn't get through the queue..... {eye twitch} The Axs app has done nothing to curb ticket scalping and in my opinion has made tickets even more difficult to get, especially in venues like the Ryman, unless you want to pay six times face value. I've been shut out of the last three concerts I've tried to get tickets for, even when trying multiple days with multiple presale options.
That sucks. I actually had the same seats for the 20 years tour and was heartbroken when the tour was canceled because I thought there was no way that lightning would strike twice
we snagged front row center at the Ryman years ago for Regina Spektor and to this day it's still one of my favorite show experiences. Super excited for you! We were much closer with our original 2020 tour seats.... sigh... ha!

Yes!!! We will be at Edgefield, and we would LOVE to hear June Hymn! That song means so much to us. Every year, on June 1st, we drive to Springville Road and watch the sun rise over the St. John's Bridge. It's become a fun tradition. We would love to hear June Hymn! Thank you!
Really looking forward to seeing you on Saturday! We originally bought tickets for 2020, and then it was postponed until 2021, and then canceled, but we are so excited that it's finally happening!

Just introduced a friend to the D’s a couple hours ago…one thing led to another and I found out she’s a drummer who has opened for Mitch Ryder/Detroit Wheels, Paul Revere and the Raiders , others. Had no idea, as we taught catechism together😮. I explained how we made a quilt for Jenny ELEVEN years ago after her ex. Glad she’s fine. it was cool getting other Orate folks to send in squares…the world has changed and stayed the same. Anyway, have a great tour all! Sue

Completely understood, fam. After my mom died, I hated telling people - everyone always got so awkward like they didn't know what to say, and I didn't like making people feel bad. I won't insult you by saying "it gets better" or some bullshit, I hated that, but hang in there and take care of yourself, and enjoy yourself thoroughly at the show because I'm sure your Mom would want you to.
Every song is great! My favorite one is whichever one is being played! Yay Decemberists Tour.
More importantly, what can we do for you? Choreographed dances, Cosplay of favorite Decemberist song characters? Whole audience skits? Sing-a-long? Tears? Immeasurable enthusiasm? As you know, we belong to you. We've built our life around you!
This is gonna be an amazing first concert for you, Colin is so personable and the band is so tight that it's really a joy in every respect. Congrats on your first show, hope you have a blast!

The virtual tour helped get our kids, 3 and 6, interested in you guys and I can’t wait for my youngest to finally attend his first concert! My husband and I went to your first show back at the Wilma after years of not playing Montana and we haven’t missed you in Seattle since we moved here 11 years ago.
For song requests, I would cry happy tears hearing “Rise to Me,” since my 6 year old is also autistic and it was the first time it felt like someone understood us. For a happier request, my 3 year old loves “Down by the Water” so much that he hears your songs and goes “it’s the water song!” regardless of what song it actually is.

Hi all! I'll be at Vienna for my 20th show! I was really excited originally when my 20th show would have coincided with the 20th anniversary tour in 2020...but we all know what happened then. Excited to finally see everyone again this summer! I'm super hoping to hear After the Bombs, as I've never caught it live and it feels very apropos for this tour.

In the 25+ shows I have seen I have never once seen you play On the Bus Mall. It's my favorite song of yours and a top 3 favorite of all time. I was front row on the stage at the Crystal once when it was on the printed setlist and got skipped. I cried. PLEASE PLAY IT FOR ME!

My partner and I just moved across the country from Bethlehem, PA to Seattle. This morning I realized you were gonna be in Seattle tonight and bought last minute tickets. I’m thrilled!! Especially because I got Philly tickets months ago but now probably can’t go unless I find a miraculous cheap flight. Can’t wait for later! Seconding On the Bus Mall or really any Picaresque (saw Sporting Life on the setlist from last night, I'd get a kick out of that also), it was the first Decemberists album I heard and I'm very fond of it...oh look at that, my hand slipped and I'm buying Picaresque on vinyl, this all happened very quickly

My 13-year-old kids and partner and I will be in LA too. Mariner's Revenge and O Valencia! were the songs that made 2nd generation fans of our kids. We'd love to hear them.
I was at the Troutdale show last night. It was amazing and so great to see you all. ❤️ Thank you. I almost cried during the first few songs because I was just so happy to be able to go out and do stuff like this in general, but especially to see you live. You guys have been consistently there for me through many hard times and I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate it.
hey Colin! *so* excited to see you and the crew at Surly. know there’s a lot of exhaustion around The Mariner’s Revenge Song, but if you do come around to it during the tour, would absolutely die to hear it in MN, as I’ve never been able to hear it live and that song holds a special place in my heart as my introduction to The Decemberists. (I also would love to scream “whale” louder than I ever have while singing along).

Would also enthusiastically settle for Bus Mall, (which I’ve always hoped you might just play at all Portland shows as you often so wonderfully do Grace Cathedral for us in the Bay).

On a Sad note my mom passed last week and this'll be one of the first joyous things I'm doing since her passing.
She's a NYer and I've been living in Boston forever so Oh New England from the bridesmaids would be amazing

It really wasn’t hard to rack up tons of shows if you lived in Portland back in the day.
I wish I counted how many times I saw this band live. I saw them in attendance at others’ shows (for sure to see DCFC @ Crystal Ballroom).
I was at the bar before a Decemberists show when Colin came right up next to me and ordered a beer.

Yeah I don’t think I’ve ever heard other shows that have had that song on the list! There are so many deep cuts that’d be wonderful to hear live.

My partner and I just moved across the country from Bethlehem, PA to Seattle. This morning I realized you were gonna be in Seattle tonight and bought last minute tickets. I’m thrilled!! Especially because I got Philly tickets months ago but now probably can’t go unless I find a miraculous cheap flight. Can’t wait for later! Would love to hear The Island, Oceanside, and/or Carolina Low. Can’t express enough how excited I am to see y’all again after four years.

That's dedication - SummerStage in New York is awesome, you picked a good one! Seconding On the Bus Mall or really any Picaresque (saw Sporting Life on the setlist from last night, I'd get a kick out of that also), it was the first Decemberists album I heard and I'm very fond of it...oh look at that, my hand slipped and I'm buying Picaresque on vinyl, this all happened very quickly

My 13-year-old kids and partner and I will be in LA too. Mariner's Revenge and O Valencia! were the songs that made 2nd generation fans of our kids. We'd love to hear them.

I was at the Troutdale show last night. It was amazing and so great to see you all. ❤️ Thank you. I almost cried during the first few songs because I was just so happy to be able to go out and do stuff like this in general, but especially to see you live. You guys have been consistently there for me through many hard times and I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate it.
hey Colin! *so* excited to see you and the crew at Surly. know there’s a lot of exhaustion around The Mariner’s Revenge Song, but if you do come around to it during the tour, would absolutely die to hear it in MN, as I’ve never been able to hear it live and that song holds a special place in my heart as my introduction to The Decemberists. (I also would love to scream “whale” louder than I ever have while singing along).

I’ll be there tonight at Marymoor. I think it’s about my seventh show, but the first time since I think the Hollywood Bowl show around 2008. I’ve had a lot happen in my life then.

Hello! So excited for the show tonight in Redmond! It will be a family affair since we are bringing the 5 year old for her first concert. Not sure if this is the place to request songs but I’m going to give it a shot with a rhyming request. Lake Song for me (it just gives me all the summer vibes) and Rake Song for my daughter (it’s her favorite.. nothing like hearing a child sing about..child murder 😐)

(Judiciously) this 30 year old kid who was lucky enough to see their first Decemberists show at 14 (& who will be sentimentally sporting their appallingly well-worn tour shirt from said show) would be over the moon if you played Wanting Comes in Waves Reprise & Hazards 4! Would also enthusiastically settle for Bus Mall, (which I’ve always hoped you might just play at all Portland shows as you often so wonderfully do Grace Cathedral for us in the Bay).
