Also, any covers of stuff you've been listening to lately?

I would for sure love to hear the Capybara song. How about that Socks in the Box song? Love a good tune about miners dying now and again. 😁

Alas, I cannot attend the show as today is my 50th birthday party and I had been hinting for a year that somehow my family could finagle a private concert by the Decemberists! (Kidding not kidding) When I saw this show listed I knew there would be no surprise. Instead there will be a local 80s cover band who I’ve requested play plenty of REM. Colin your cover of Cuyahoga is always sublime! Or my favorite of your tunes forever and ever is Architect. Hope you’ll share the final set list with us! Have a great show. Looking forward to seeing you guys this summer at a few stops

Happy birthday and R.E.M. sounds awesome. If I could hear Colin cover any of their songs it would be Don’t Go Back to Rockville.

The Apology Song in honor of my bicycle "Madeline"

Will enjoy anything you play, but a rousing rendition of The Rake’s Song would leave me cackling! Can’t wait for tonight!

I’ll be there with bells on! And as always, I request Devil’s Elbow! And Beaverton/Hillsboro friends, if you have kids and are looking for something to do with them earlier today, I’m hosting an Easter egg hunt at Cornell Estates retirement and assisted living. It’s free! Bring your littles! Egg hunt starts promptly at 1:30!l. We have face painting, a balloon artist, and an Easter Bunny!

In the 10+ shows I've been to, I've somehow managed to miss ever hearing Shiny. If you wanted to play that, I wouldn't mind...

Expand full comment

Okay this kind of thread should be paid content! I am not going to the show, but wish I was! I am coming to the Bluebird Music Festival next week.

Expand full comment

So in prep for that, I'd love it if you'd be able to play Sleepless and/or The Blues Run the Game cover. And Beginning Song is my favorite favorite. Hell, everything is my favorite.

Expand full comment

Colin, I traveled from the distant land of Albuquerque for your concert ahead of my birthday. I'd love to hear Architect/Dreams tonight. Can't wait!

I'll be there with my daughter. A Kinks cover would be fun!

We are looking forward to a lovely time at the show with you tonight. Anything you play will be great, but since you asked how about a Row Jimmy, Why Would I Now, or Cavalry Captain? Of course we’d love to hear anything new if you feel like it. See you tonight

Expand full comment

Have to wait until Atlanta but second it for Cuyahoga or Row Jimmy.

Expand full comment

Yes! Row Jimmy

Expand full comment

Not gonna be there as I am in Texas, but I suggest Dracula’s Daughter. That should eat up a good 3 mins if you include it’s origin story!

Expand full comment

May the show go well. Living on the east coast I will not be atending.

Expand full comment

I am hesitant to give it up before the Boston show, but Sheepcrook and Black Dog

I will be there! Would love to hear a live version of Benjamin Franklin’s song and have always had a soft spot for Red Right Ankle. But if you do all three parts of Crane Wife, my heart will be especially full. Looking forward to it! (Hopefully you don’t have to deal with an eye infection this time. ;) )

Expand full comment

I won’t be there, but I absolutely love that you are soliciting our opinions on this! If I was there, I’d want you to play Everything I Try To Do, Nothing Seems To Turn Out Right.

Expand full comment

I love that one too. Makes me nostalgic for my late teens.

Expand full comment

I always enjoyed the tour CD's that you put out during your solo shows. All the great covers from Sam Cooke/Morrissey/Shirley Collins/The Kinks. Any of those songs would be great, I particularly enjoy "Do You Remember Walter"

My wife has the same request always and forever for any of shows, "We Both Go Down Together" .

Can't wait for tonight!

Expand full comment

Not going, wish I were, but I've always wanted to hear "The Infanta" live. Acoustic version would be amazing. Have fun everyone!

Expand full comment

Thanks! It felt like the whole show was a gift!

Expand full comment

Thank you for playing both of my requests! I was so excited when I realized the first song you were playing was CA1! Such a weird and a wonderful show! Though now my friend and I are wondering what wine you were drinking that was so good you poured a second glass?

Great show last night. I’m curious, you weren’t going to do Mariners, which was a hoot, but changed your mind. What had you intended to play?

Expand full comment

Three for three! Thank you Colin.

No suggestions... just wish I was attending

Riverswim - the most underrated song the D's have crafted.

Play something that you enjoy playing but you're not sure if anyone cares to hear. Take a chance! Regardless, looking forward to the show tonight.

Expand full comment

I will most definitely be there! Probably too late to add song input, but Shankill Butchers or the solo version of The Mariner’s Revenge Song that you did at Topaz Farm would be awesome. Or Islands in the Stream. 😛

Any plans to play in London sometime?

Also for locals - I just checked and there are still a few seats available in the balcony.

"Severed" at the Fox Theater in Oakland was absolutely the loudest thing I ever heard. Do with that what you will. Maybe tie it in with the great show "Severed" on AppleTV.

I just finished watching Severed this minute! Season two can not come soon enough!
