So many great albums from 1974: Court and Spark, of course….. but, Veedon Fleece, Heart of Saturday Night, Fear, Kimono My House, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Diamond Dogs, Jolene, On the Beach, New Skin for the Old Ceremony….. and many more.
I don’t know, Colin, I’m imaging a livestream covers session of songs of’74. It’s not like you’re writing a book or anything…..oh well, dare to dream.
Happiest Birthday! 50 Excellent years and more ahead. That Quiet Riot video could have been Spinal Tap, which came out that same year. Thanks for sharing with us. Bay-bees! Bay-bees!
Happy Birthday! I too turned 50 this year. Reading about your nostalgic look back of the "band" at 10 years old, drums up my own memories of photos at that age. I wonder if there are any of me that capture what was and what will be. Thanks for sharing and continue to value the moment.
Also, have you ever considered doing a song with Laura Marling? I love both of your styles and think your voices would work well together. Just a thought.
Loved reading this great reflection, thank you! It’s all relative. I’m a happy and relatively healthy 68 year old, so don’t feel so bad about 50 you young whippersnapper 😉
I think the thing that surprises me most about being older – other than the occasional shock of an unflattering reflection – is when my language choice or a joke reference fall flat. (Did I really just use the term "hullaballoo" today?) Some years ago I attended a workshop called "Communicating Across Generations." We were divided into small groups that had a wide variety of ages represented. The look on the face of the youngest member at our table when an older member (a friend of mine who was messing with me) said "Jane, you ignorant slut" was priceless. We all rushed to explain the context, but it was a great illustration of why the class was a good use of time.
The Babies merch dropping when?
Many happy returns to you and Carson.
My wife & I also share a birthday (4 yrs apart) and form filling still a hoot for that second or two of furrowed impatience on examiners’ faces.
60 this year (so remember the Slade original of “Mamma”. - being Brits). Best prezzie - my first electric guitar.
Thanks so much for slogging over to play at All Points East. Hope you’re back soon.
Big yes on the Babies reunion tour! Happy Birthday to you and Court and Spark, both classics.
Court and Spark isn’t old. You are a baby.
