I’m happy to add to the phone and email harassment of Sens. Daines and Sheehy of Montana, but my gut says they will continue to be cozy with whatever inches us closer to a totalitarian hellscape that caters to their millions.

It’s depressing. Technically both fuckwits are my neighbors (though of course I live far from their homes), and can literally see the vast beauty of public lands surrounding us.

But both would love to charge rent on the air we breathe.

The wild thing is that the MT lands are (currently) off the table b/c Daines said he wouldn’t vote for it if they were — and so Sen. Lee (UT) struck the MT sales from the bill. If I was a Utahn, I’d be especially pissed

I’m from Utah and I’m ashamed of Mike Lee in general, and particularly as it relates to this ridiculous bill. Utah’s senators are hearing about it. The crazy thing is that Lee is pushing for this while his own state is overwhelmingly against it.

Living in Utah, but not a Utahn (although I won't lay claim to be an Arizonian either). The shame of it all. Politics are shit in both states.

If I can squint my way through the "inversion" (WTF??), I'll personally knock on my local senators door. Oh, wait. I can see the bling of the temple rearing its head above the smog. That's probably where I'll find him.

Congrats on getting “Utahn” right. That’s a rare feat unless you’re local!

Thank you for spreading the word about this! I work for a small land trust and in modern times land conservation projects take years, sometimes generations, to come to fruition. Once this land is sold, there's no going back. Please please call your senators!

With great relief, I can report that Senator Mike Lee’s proposal to sell off up to 3.3 million acres of public lands appears to have been removed from the Senate’s budget reconciliation bill.. We did it-for now.

Let's not kid ourselves that the Rs won't try this again, probably sneaking it into an unrelated piece of legislation. To the Rs, the only value is the kind they can count-and take away from the people who put them into office. And the way to get them to listen is to make sure they know that we are watching and counting the days until the midterms.

Thank you for this. My good for nothing senators, Fetterman and McCormick, get a long email from me every week. Neither of them ever seem to have anyone actually picking up the phone.

Thanks Colin for this reminder...just in case anyone needs to know, the logged phone calls to our elected representatives give them clout when they are speaking on our behalf. If 100 (or 1000) calls are logged, it gives our reps the ability to say WE the PEOPLE care about the topic.

Tell everyone you know to make the call today.
