Colin! I’m the lady who asked for Why Would I Now. I have a tattoo of the bridge lyrics on my arm that I got when I was going through fertility treatment (my daughter is 2 now, and regularly asks me to play her “the burial ground song” and “the bicycle song”). Thank you so much for playing it for me, and also sorry to put you on the spot like that. It meant a lot to me. And thanks for such a great show - you all were in fine form and it’s always a delight to get to see you play. Safe travels for the rest of the tour! 💛💛
I was so glad to be a part of the Toronto magic last night. I honestly loved the intimate 10 person VIP show, you guys did great with the songs despite being rusty on them. I always say the mark of a great musician is being able to play a song pretty much on the fly, and I think you guys nailed it. Not to feed any egos or anything. Glad to see you’re resting your vocals, and best wishes for the rest of the tour! Thank you for giving me a night I won’t soon forget!!
The Toronto show this time was amazing! I sprung for VIP in 2022 (and was stoked to ask you a question!) And left feeling slightly disappointed in the show. This time I was absolutely jazzed about the whole shebang.
In regards to what they are feeding us - I stumbled into a stoner bar/grill and found myself ordering "poutine spring rolls", which is exactly what it sounds like. Spring rolls stuffed with fries and cheese, with gravy for dipping. It was both disgusting and delightful, and provided the necessary carb/grease energy boost needed to stay awake past 9:30pm.
How many people usually shell out for these VIP pre-shows? I was surprised to find myself amongst just a handful of people, but I think that only made it more special. I think all 10 of us appreciated the band tackling songs that clearly meant a lot to those asking for them. The main show itself was fantastic, with The Crane Wife 1 being particularly glorious. Till next time...
My friend from there introducedme to the dialect via the Yinzers' song Growin up in Pittsburgh. "Shut up and drink you're barely even pregnant" is truly one of the greatest song lyrics ever!
I don’t usually go for the whole VIP shebang, but this time when your Toronto show was announced and we realized a Q&A was included, my hubby looked at me and said “We should do the VIP so you can ask, nicely, why they never play This Is Why We Fight.” Thank you for enlightening me on that front. (I figured it was because it was difficult to play live, but will still hope that some day you play it live when I happen to be in the audience.)
We ate at Junior’s after the show! The cheeseburger was so good, we decided to come back the next morning for breakfast. The eggs Florentine didn’t disappoint! Can’t wait to come back some day.
If anybody knows the answer, I’ve been befuddled and need to know: what’s the thing constantly spinning like a lighthouse over in the back of Jenny’s Instrument Zone?
Was lucky enough to catch you guys in New Haven. The reworked bachelor and the bride was incredible. Joan in the garden as a closer is certainly weird, but the Decemberists weird I love! Safe travels on the rest of the tour!

You played Why Would I Now? during the Radio City show on September 25, 2015. I remember really enjoying it!

Poutine spring rolls with gravy dipping sauce 🤣
I ordered it mostly out of curiosity... and curiosity.. clogged the cat's arteries, apparently

In my experience maybe 50-ish people? There is a cap as VIP tickets can sell out. Never counted but that’s my sense from the times I’ve done it.
See you Friday in our Nation’s capital!
Bah, artist's intent is meaningless! Ask Sting!
Welcome back to Da Burgh n'at, yinz!
This concludes your first lesson in Pgh-speak. :-)

Poor Lizzie! Can you guys get her some Bose noise-killer phones?
Thank you for recommending Cara Beth Satalino’s LITTLE GREEN. Beautiful record!
Had a blast at the Pittsburgh show last night!
