So, we went to the Milwaukee show & took our 12 year old. We’ve had the absolute pleasure of hearing you live several times— But it was the first for this guy. He came armed with his headphones (things are too loud for him at times) & wishes to hear The Engine Driver. He never used the headphones and didn’t even miss the Engine Driver. A real smile (intensified during the jamming ) was unwavering the whole the time! His thoughts of getting home before bedtime evaporated & he didn’t even look at the time. Unfathomable for him. He proclaimed it his favorite concert of all time despite the fact he didn’t hear his favorite song!! Damn! That’s unreal for him! What a night for us! Thank you for giving our family this joy!

Thanks for playing us a great Chicago show, Colin and fellow travelers; glad to hear the back-of-house at the Salt Shed is as comfy for bands as the front-of-house is for show attendees. Hope to hear y’all back there again soon.

Liked your little mid-show riff on Hypothetical Mr. Morton up and moving the salt business out on a cultural inspiration. You might be amused to learn the reality wasn’t that far off from your version of the plot…. In 2014, when the Salt Shed actually was a salt shed, the south wall (corresponding to the back of house/stage area) catastrophically collapsed and spilled a biblical river of salt into a luxe auto dealership next door:

Barely a year later, Morton packed up and hi-di-ho’ed both the salt and their business elsewhere, freeing up the building to become the plus-grade BDRC you enjoyed on Tuesday.

It is purely a local legend that states, after the wall collapse, the bricks were heard to be humming “I Was Meant For The Stage”. :)

Thanks again for a fun evening together, enjoy the onward tour and hope to hear you again here soon.

Thanks for posting the pre-show music! My sister and I were trying to identify as many as we could in Boston and New Haven and didn’t have much success.

Thank you for always crediting the photographers when sharing the tour photos they captured! Love seeing the variety of work folks are getting of your shows around the country. Sincerely, a full-time photographer. 🫡

Just sitting thinking a week ago right now I was still enjoying the hell out of myself front row at the Salt Shed. Thank you Colin, Jenny, Nate, John and Chris for one of the best nights of my life. Just an incredible performance and I will agree our energy was close to riotous which made it so much fun! And the joy you brought me when you saw my Decemberists tattoo during Meant for the Stage will forever be a core memory! Now enjoy some rest and relaxation!

I always wondered if bands chose the pre-show music! I finally figured that out after recognizing several of the songs from your previous posts. Great playlist, found myself Shazaming a dew of the songs before the show started!

Great show in St Paul! Happy to be back at the Palace with its terrific floor viewing. Really loved the setlist plumbing depths of your many albums. The closer just killed....

Thank you, Colin and Decemberists!!

Thanks for an excellent show in Chicago, Colin (and band, and Ratboys).

This was, what I believe to be my sixth or seventh time seeing The Decemberists, so it was extra special to do so in a new venue!

I’m glad to hear Chicago treated you well (we get a bad wrap, you know).

We are also grateful that the show didn’t move outside because you caught us on the hottest, and windiest day of the season so far. Our train on the way home had a speed restriction so it took even longer to get home. I think we rolled into our stop a little after 1am, but it was all worth it.

I love the playlists of your pre-show music! I find it excited to know that some of my favorites, like the Beths, are listened to by my other favorites.

I searched valiantly for the shower rating from MN, but alas...it does not seem to have been 'posted below'. Now we'll never know this insider knowledge.
