Hello there Machinists,

Don’t know if you saw this, but Substack just introduced live video to the platform. I haven’t really had time to play around with it, but wanted to give it a shot. Going back to the bad old days, the lockdown days of 2020, I started doing these impromptu live videos on Instagram, playing songs for folks, taking requests, mangling half-remembered covers. It didn’t seem to offend people too much, so I’ve done it a handful of times since then, mostly when I was doing warmups for tours.

So what do you say? How about a trial run at this whole Substack live video thing? Let’s say this Thursday, Oct 3rd, at 11 am pacific. If you’re a subscriber, you should get a push notification that I’ve gone live; you can join from the app. Ideally, I can take requests on the fly, but please drop some song requests into the comments and I’ll see if I can oblige…
