Seven years in the making

I imagine you know this, but let me recount the events of last week: on Tuesday, we announced that our upcoming LP, our 9th, would be called As It Ever Was, So It Will Be Again and it would be heaved out into the world on June 14th. We also released a second song from that album — “Joan in the Garden,” what is the last song on the LP.

If you followed my studio diaries, you’ll know that “Joan” required a lot of our labors and attentions. I’m sure you can hear that in the finished track. But the recording of the song was only the last little effort in a journey that goes back over six years. Let’s take a deep dive, shall we?
