That was probably Mi Pueblo you ate at which is great and a stop my friend and I would make after a few at the Hideaway and before heading back up to Santa Rosa to be doormen at the Old Vic. That was a long time ago but I do miss the weird fun of Petaluma. Did you ever make it to the Phoenix as a performer or a fan? It's absolutely a Bay Area icon!
It was great hearing you talk about your journey to this book from childhood to now. We came out from Sacramento to listen, and it was well worth the drive on a weekday.
As far as Bunnicula, I teach 5th grade, and read the book with a small reading group a couple years ago. It didn’t connect well with the kids. I think the term Mac used was “Scooby Doo.” I must agree. There must be better choices for this genre, and now there is at least one more. Thanks for the gift of your narrative!
I bought the book a few years ago for my kids, they're 12 and 11 now. They weren't into it then which slightly stung because I loved the series as a kid. I have a feeling I won't convince them to revisit it, but now I want to read it on my own.
My oldest enjoys VE Schwab and my youngest exclusively reads the Five Nights at Freddy's series (facepalm). I'm hoping Colin's prose will entice the younger one into something different!
I was wondering about how you decompress from a tour. A book from the early 90’s noted Bono’s wife didn’t want him home right away (insert anti Bono joke now).
Great insight into the feelings of Pub Day and the goings on.
Congratulations on your book! I loved hearing the stages of releasing something into the world. I just got published in a journal after 3 years of research and writing, and can very much relate to all that! The moment of celebration is so fleeting , but I guess *the thing* being in the world now is the really cool part. I hope the book tour keeps the celebration going for you after all those years of work!
Hi. Was at the reading in Decatur yesterday. Just a funny observation. A women asked you a question about how to get kids to take up writing. Your answer was to the effect it is something they they (the kids) need to want to do. Her son leaned over to his mom after you answered and whispered something I can only assume was I told you so. Very cute
Thank you for the fantastic Copperfields event! Enjoying the read immensely. Also on a Yeats kick now. All the best for the rest of the tour (excellent to have another tour diary)!
How was the shower?
What’s the issue with Bunnicula??
Carson mentioned she had reread it recently and didn't like it. Pitchforks were raised, torches were ignited, castle keeps were stormed.
I am sorry (not sorry) to say, “I agree with Carson.”

I was there at Powells!! It was so fun!!
💃🕺💃🕺
(I drove put from Seattle the day of the signing to drive back because I had school the next day, tiring but worth it)
Thank you so much, Colin. I love reading your diaries. Yes, strange but true.
I can only imagine the gustatory, geographic, and digestive calculus that takes place in your head before you eat oysters while on tour ...

Be well. Really love your content here.
Once you finish “So Far” you can join in on “Rubinesque” which is the same gentlemen reviewing ALL of Rick Rubin’s production output!

"So Far" is a pretty incredible journey. The show really shines when they get to "Thoroughfare Gap"-era Stills. Enjoy!

I had a full on TSDWD nightmare last night. Congrats on freaking out this full grown adult woman. Loving it so far! 🙀

You are literally living my dream right now! I hope I get to do a book tour some day, hopefully some day soon!
Can't wait to get my copy of your book and devour it!
